Non conductive

Slingco High class 'non-conductive' cable grips are manufactured from high tensile man-made 'Parafil' multi-stranded fibres contained in a continuous polythene sheath.

They are non-conductive, non-corrosive and fairly abrasive resistant. The polythene sheath outer also aids against damage to other parts encountered whilst pulling of cables is in progress.

When used for supporting cables, tubes etc. a long life can be expected even in hostile environments i.e. sea water etc.

The 'Parafil' cable grips are woven from the eye loop end of each 'Parafil' sheathed strand, therefore the opposite pull grip end is terminated in groups of cut strand ends (usually at least two strands per group) which are secured together with heat shrink plastic sheaths.

During the pulling of cables the heat shrink 'Parafil' terminations are not positively weave locked and can tend to splay outwards under pressure. It is necessary therefore to bind the loose ends on to the cable or tube to be pulled, by means of 50mm wide self-adhesive P.V.C. tape or nylon cable ties (at least two about 50mm apart). To prevent the end terminations from splaying out and losing initial grip, properly applied these end ties will guard against initial accidental grip release and will ensure maximum eventual grip.

Please note if cable release may be required at some later time, it may be necessary to cut the 'taped' or 'cable tied' ends loose to release the grip, so future access for this purpose must be considered. Nylon cable tie pairs may have an advantage in these conditions as no adhesive is involved, also they may be more resistant to sea water environments.

For difficult long term grip cases both tape and cable ties can be applied if necessary, but future release consideration must also be thought about.
